Child Safety Standards

Last updated:

Akari is an AT Protocol client published by Lucid Softworks. Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any other form of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is strictly prohibited in any context surfaced through the app. This page describes our position, who handles moderation, and how to report CSAE.

What Akari is — and isn't

Akari is a client. It does not host user content, does not store posts or media on Lucid Softworks infrastructure, and does not run a moderation service. Every record you see in Akari lives on a Personal Data Server (PDS) operated by a third party, is assembled by a third-party AppView, and is filtered by third-party labelers and moderation services that the network or the user has subscribed to.

Removal of content, suspension of accounts, takedown of media, and forwarding of CSAM to law enforcement are responsibilities of those services — not Akari. The information below explains where reports need to go for action to be taken.

How users report CSAE in Akari

Akari exposes the AT Protocol report flow on every post, profile, and message:

Where to report CSAM directly

Because Akari does not host content or run moderation, the authoritative places to report CSAM are the operators of the services that hold the record. For accounts on the public Bluesky network that is Bluesky Social PBC; for accounts on a self-hosted or third-party PDS that is the PDS operator. To report directly:

What Lucid Softworks does

Lucid Softworks publishes the Akari app. Our role is limited to:

Compliance

Akari complies with applicable child-safety laws in the jurisdictions in which it is distributed. Statutory reporting of CSAM under United States 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, the EU Digital Services Act, the UK Online Safety Act, and equivalent regional regimes is the responsibility of the hosting provider — that is the PDS or moderation service operating on the AT Protocol network. Lucid Softworks reports CSAM that is received directly to NCMEC and cooperates with referrals from law enforcement.

Designated point of contact

The designated point of contact for child-safety questions, law enforcement requests, and CSAM/CSAE matters at Lucid Softworks is:

This contact is able to discuss Akari's CSAM/CSAE prevention practices and compliance posture, and to route requests to the appropriate AT Protocol service operator. For action on specific content or accounts, please use the direct channels listed under "Where to report CSAM directly".

Changes

This page may change as Akari's tooling, the AT Protocol moderation ecosystem, and applicable law evolve. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
